My research through Freedom of information requests to all London Boroughs shows that 80% of them don’t know how many timber framed blocks they have after fire completely destroys a new build close to Lakanal House.

The London Fire authority acknowledges the research and says it is worried about the risks posed and will monitor the developments in future. New political leadership suggests a change in the law may be necessary to keep residents safe from fire risks. London assembly launches inquiry into timber-framed buildings.

Research conclusion: legislation is weak and regulators have poor information on timber framed blocks. In and of itself poses risks.
