The Fire Commissioner for London apologises to the families of those who were killed in Lakanal House.  The London Fire Brigade (LFB) say they have learned lessons from their poor response to the fire.  They have learned from the unpredictable nature of the fire.  However they argue that the inspection of properties needs to be brought up to date and the regulatory regime needs to be amended potentially with changes to the law.

A series of Freedom of Information requests to all London local authorities and the LFB reveal that many of the highest risk tower blocks have still not been adequately assessed with a Fire Risk Assessment since the Lakanal Fire.  Fire safety is obviously still being compromised.
