The families of those who watched their families succumb to the blaze gave evidence about the harrowing wait for emergency services to rescue their families which never happened.

The evidence suggested that advice to stay put during the fire was flawed and the families could have been saved if the emergency services had acted more swiftly and in a coordinated way.
